Alan is a native of Paisley, Scotland. He’s played tennis since he was a toddler and as an adult, embarked on a distinguished career in professional tennis, competing on the international circuit for over a decade. Throughout his tenure, Alan faced off against some of the sport’s most formidable opponents, including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka. Alan achieved a career-high singles ranking of 213 and proudly represented the United Kingdom in prestigious competitions such as the Davis Cup, Grand Slam events and ATP tournaments.
Following a successful tennis career, Alan seamlessly transitioned into senior management roles within sports organizations across three continents. Since relocating to Canada in 2012, he has served as CEO at two provincial sport organizations and managed Tennis Canada training center programs in Alberta and Ontario. Most recently, during his tenure at Tennis Alberta, Alan spearheaded a successful rebuild of the Provincial Association, achieving several noteworthy accomplishments. A few of those are as follows:
His qualifications are equally as impressive. Alan is a graduate of Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, UK, where he earned a Business Management Degree (BA). He holds various tennis business management and coaching certifications from esteemed institutions including the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals), The Lawn Tennis Association, The United States Professional Tennis Association, The PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) and Tennis Canada.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Alan maintains a passion for sports, including rugby, football (soccer), golf and, of course, tennis.
